Bloomingdale’s is calling a pitch for its advertising account ahead of the planned launch of its first stores outside of the US.
The two new department stores are to open at the Dubai Mall next February as part of a strategic relationship between Macy’s Inc, owners of Bloomingdale’s, and the Al Tayer Group. The stores will be managed and operated by Al Tayer Insignia.
The search for an agency is believed to be at the credentials stage and will move on to a full pitch when a shortlist of agencies has been formed. Al Tayer is only searching for a creative agency as the company handles media buying and planning in-house.
The two new Bloomingdale’s will be a three-level apparel and accessories store of about 146,000sq ft and a one-level home store of about 54,000sq ft. A press release announcing the stores’ openings last year, stated that the merchandise assortment, upscale ambience and high level of customer service will be similar to Bloomingdale’s in the US, while being sensitive to local preferences and customs.
